New research shows that cannabidiol (CBD) may help treat pain and anxiety, but not in the way most might people might expect. According to a study published in the Journal of the International Association for the Study of Pain, CBD may help treat pain and anxiety by interacting with serotonin receptors, which are critical in the management of anxiety, and vanilloid receptors, which scientists often target for non-addictive types of pain relief. Although the study was conducted involved rats and not humans, researchers believe that they are getting closer to understand how CBD interacts with neurons in the brain.
