A federal lawsuit against several West Virginia hemp farmers has been dismissed by a U.S. District Judge. The suit alleged that Matthew Mallory, Alternative Medical Options LLC, Gary Kale and Grassy Run Farms violated the Controlled Substances Act by breaking the terms of their hemp cultivation permit with the state. In his decision, U.S. District Judge Robert Chambers said that through the 2018 Spending Bill, and other federal actions, Congress made it clear that it intended for hemp to be exempt from the Controlled Substances Act.
