On May 6, 2019, Kentucky hemp seeds were safely delivered to the International Space Station. The seeds were delivered by SpaceX 17, and was part of a partnership between the Kentucky-based Atalo Holdings and the aeronautical company Space Tango. The seeds will be used in more than 250 scientific research projects. This is the first time that hemp seeds have ever been sent into space, and researchers hope to learn what kind of effect zero gravity has on the plant.
