Montana’s newly minted Hemp Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting on April 3, 2019 in the city of Helena. Comprised of nine individuals representing both large and small-scale hemp cultivators, the committee was appointed by Department of Agriculture Director Ben Thomas. The role of the new committee will be to advise officials at the state Department of Agriculture on various hemp related issues, including the creation of a Montana Hemp Checkoff program. Speaking with Montana Public Radio, Thomas encouraged cultivators to exercise caution and avoid oversupplying the market.
