Law enforcement officials in Pawhuska, Oklahoma were embarrassed to learn that what they thought was the largest cannabis bust in state history was, in fact, legal hemp. Last week, officers with the Pawhuska Police Department seized a shipment carrying 17,258 pounds of hemp from Kentucky to Panacea Life Sciences, a Colorado-based hemp company. According to James Baumgartner, president of Panacea Life Sciences, the company ordered the shipment to help fill increased demand; which had outstripped the company’s 2018 production capacity.
