Officials at Southern Illinois University Carbondale announced today that the school is rolling out with a new research initiative aimed at studying the medical and practical uses of industrial hemp and cannabis. Notably, researchers hope to better understand how hemp affects herbicide-resistant weeds. The university expects that the program will involve multiple disciplinary fields; including agriculture, chemistry, engineering, business, and ecology.
