Texas is on the cusp of legalizing industrial hemp production. On April 23, 2019, the Texas House of Representatives gave unanimous approval House Bill 1325, a bill that would allow farmers to grow hemp in the state and legalize hemp-derived extracts like CBD. The measure will now go to the Senate for approval. If approved and signed into law, the Texas Department of Agriculture will be responsible for writing rules and regulations governing the state’s hemp program.
